Toastmasters is a club-based communication and leadership organization. Each club is chartered by the parent organization, Toastmasters International (TMI) and provides its members with access to TMI's world-class training methods and materials. In a challenging, yet supportive atmosphere, club members learn communication skills and are encouraged to participate in Toastmasters leadership activities.
Although each club follows the TMI training program and upholds the organization's standards, the clubs themselves are all quite different. That's why people interested in learning more about Toastmasters are usually encouraged to visit several different clubs before deciding which one is best able to help them achieve their own personal growth goals.
Ashevillle Toastmasters is unique in offering its members the opportunity to participate in business meetings conducted according to Robert's Rules of Order (one of the few places to learn and practice these skills that are essential in real-life business meetings). The club is know for it's fair-but-direct evaluations, skilled speakers, and highly entertaining format that encourages the use of creativity, wit and humor.
In 2007, Asheville Toastmasters club celebrated its 60th anniversary, making it the longest-surviving club in the Carolinas.
Mission Statement The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. |
